

Great Event – Thank You One and All
July 3, 2010Aloha,
I would llike to thank everyone, runners, walkers, volunteers, spectators, and sponsors for the sucess of a great event in Kailua-Kona Hawaii on Sunday, June 27th.
But most of all I want to thank the volunteers who manned the Aid Stations and finish line, set up the race course, helped with the timing, put shell lei and medals on the runners, assisted runners in need to the medical tent, directed runners on the course, registration and packet pick up, did set up and clean up and all the numerous jobs that need to get done in order to have a successful safe event. My graditude and appreciation go out to every one of you.
Thank you so much and I hope to see you all next year, June 26, 2011.

Host Hotel is full for Race Weekend

The Keauhou Beach Resort where the start/finish is located, is offically full for Race Day Eve June 26th. They have sold out all of their rooms. If you haven’t gotten your rooms yet, you are in luck. The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort just 2 miles away also has runners rates for the Kona Marathon. You can go to this website set up especially for the KM:

Early Entry Fee Deadline – April 30
April 10, 2010Aloha athletes,
Time to register to get the lowest entry fee for the Kona Marathon and Family Fun Runs. The Marathon is only $60 (one of the lowest in the country) 1/2 Marathon $55, 10K $35, and the 5K $25.
A great day for the whole family. There’s a distance for everyone. The white sand beaches await you and the erupting volcano, Kilauea.
Remember: Price increases on May 1, 2010

Spring Is Here – Begin Training

Spring is here and the runners are out. Big Island Running Company’s owner Jason Braswell along with his wife Melissa have starting a training program for the Kona 1/2 Marathon. They had over 30 runners sign on for the training so far. If you would like to join, give them a call at: 327-9333. If you join you can get $5 off your 1/2 Marathon mail in entry fee.

“Run Forrest Run” Keiki Fun Runs
March 25, 2010Aloha everyone,
On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20, 2010 the 2nd Annual “Run Forrest Run” Keiki Fun Runs for kids 1-14 years of age can have a fun day with their families participating in a variety of races for the different age groups at the Hale Halawai County Park in downtown Kona.
The entry fee is just $10 and gives the kids not only a great experience, but a goodie bag full of great things, including a keiki achievement certificate, a free child’s meal attachment from the title sponsor Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and from our new sponsor Atlantis Submarines, a complimentary trip on a submarine with a paying adult.
It’s a great day for the whole family.

Congratulations Big Island Marathon, 1/2 Marathon and 5K runners
March 21, 2010Aloha runners,
It was great talking with some of you at the expo on Saturday, so nice to see friendly faces like Michael Georgi and Alan Ryan. I want to send congratulations to all the runners. There is a core of around 300 runners in the State of Hawaii that seem to appear at all the runs here on the Big Island. Thank you for your loyalty to all of our events.
